Programme for 2008/9 Session.

All meetings begin at 6.30 and take place at the Methodist International Centre, Euston Street, except  as otherwise indicated.  See our How to Find Us  page for directions. The Club welcomes singers of all voices either as regular members or occasional visitors. Music is available to borrow, although members are encouraged to purchase their own copies.

See our Programme Page for full details of what we will be singing.  On the Programme Page there is a new facility to access recordings or extracts from the music we are singing.  This has been updated for all the July music, although a web search may find better examples/

About LMMC

The London Motet and Madrigal Club was founded in 1942 at the City Lit., and its inaugural meeting was attended by 36 people - 15 men and 21 ladies.  Over the years it has sung music written during the Golden Age of English Music (broadly 1525 - 1625) but the range has included Dunstable motets (c1430) and twentieth (but not yet twenty-first) century music. Its members do not generally give public performances, but these have occurred from time to time, particularly at Festivals of British Music.  In recent years a summer visit has been made, often to a church or stately home associated with a famous composer. Major anniversaries have also been commemorated: last year's focus on the music of Thomas Tallis (1505 - 1585) was a good example.  On our page devoted to the History of the Club we intend to review our history in more detail, basing it on the publication The London Motet & Madrigal Club 1942-2002, a few copies of which may still be available.
